They say that when you have the passion for something, it always stays deep within you, embedded in your core, no matter what you do and no matter where life takes you. I myself has proven its truth because even after 20 years of getting myself busy in running my business, my love for music has never died. And now, I guess it is about time that I finally share my songs with the whole world. With the release of “Unconditionally,” I hope that I will be able to touch the hearts of more people and make a positive impact in their lives.
I am Selma Mariudottir from Iceland. I am an electronics technician and have also studied computer programming and systems theory. For two decades, I have given my time in running my own web hosting and web design company while working on different Internet Marketing areas. However, when I have the luxury of free time, poetry, children’s books, and songs serve as my companion.
Music has always been part of my life and more than 20 years ago, I even published my very own album in Iceland containing songs that I wrote myself. However, as life can be pretty much unpredictable, the album was never followed by a second one. I became too busy with my business that working on my music was never able to fit into my schedule. Until now.
For some reason, my passion has been reawakened and now, I have decided to arrange some of my old songs while working on brand new ones. I don’t have any specific genre, I guess, as I prefer to experiment with different things, including my music.
And right now, I am very excited to share with you the good news. today I’m officially releasing my new song, Unconditionally. I wrote it myself and it was one of those songs that I wrote more than 2 decades ago but all the lyrics are new. A studio musician, Joshua Matos, is a guest vocalist for my track, with him doing all the singing, recording and playing and I’m the one in charge of arranging and producing.
Brett Stewart has already given his review on Unconditionally and according to him:
‘Unconditionally’ is one of the better one-track reviews I’ve had to conduct for my Independent Spotlight. This can be largely attributed to Matos’ performance. The track is exceptionally well executed, both instrumentally and vocally. The performance is top notch; it’s solid on all fronts, especially with the tight drums and screaming electric guitar riffs. The vocals find harmony in a mixture of slight raspiness and emotion, too.”
I must say that I was overfilled with joy when he said, “The song masterfully exhibits that Mariudottir has what it takes to be a successful lyricist. ‘Unconditionally’ is short and sweet and that’s a very good thing. There’s an excellent place for lyricists who have the ability to make a powerful impression with three chords or less and in under just as many minutes. It’s the sort of tight, ‘wham, bam, thank you ma’am’ song that made early Beatles songwriting so appealing.”
Until next time……
